6/18/06 a former Juventutemite Seminarian...

reaches the primary goal of all his efforts!

Now that it has been over a month since the event, I finally have time to post these pictures. Father Joseph Lee, FSSP, celebrates a splendid First Mass on the Feast of Corpus Christi at Santa Clara Mission, California. Assisting in various ways and means were Rob Martin, Ed Heffernan, Justin Nolan, James Schultz, and Antony Sumich!

And the beautiful Eucharistic Procession...

Fr. Lee gives First Blessings...

It was way too beautiful.
I nearly cried. (Which in my case is just as good as crying.)

Isn't it just heavenly, I mean, really? :) Deo gratias - and God bless you, Christa. Fr Lee, FSSP Hoorah! We heard about his grand tour afterwards from some visiting seminarians :)

Glorious vestments, by the way!

In the final photo, it appears that someone or something has caught the attention of Fr. Lee and prevented him from conferring his first blessing upon the lady kneeling. Or is he just trying to calculate how much time it will take him to confer blessings on the hundreds of other people who are in line.

Aside from that, I notice that nearly all of the seminarians who accompanied Juventutem except Cortney have managed to assist Fr. Lee at his first Mass. Am I to suppose they are part of a brotherhood within a brotherhood at OLGS and vowed that whenever one hits the road, they rest will follow?

The text below this post's title says that Fr. Lee has reached the primary goal of all his efforts. I was wondering if perhaps he might have aspirations to exchange the biretta for the zuchetto and mitre, in which case he hasn't actually reached his primary goal. I know he likes brandishing things from his 'Mortal Kombat by campfire' pictures and a crosier is a pretty useful thing to brandish, if not literally then certainly metaphorically.

Yeah. Definitely got a brotherhood going there. I don't know what happened to Cortney...

All right. So when I said the primary goal it was more of "I kinda hope saying Mass is his primary goal since it is the primary reason for the priesthood." If he's crazy enough to want to be a leader...Mass is still the greatest thing he can do...

:D

Fr. Lee was deacon at a Solemn High Nuptual Mass I attended this past Saturday. I was happy to see he remembered me and my fiancee and I were lucky enough to recieve his first blessing and some of his ordination cards. He said he was going to Tulsa for a little while, but will eventually be heading up to Canada for his first permanent assignment. He seemed really at ease with being a priest of God.
