Requiescat in Pace

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Father John Wilkinson, CM who fell asleep in the Lord on the evening of Monday, 18th February AD 2008. I came to know Father Wilkinson through his visits to the Library. Father was one of those priests that you could be assured would be in attendance at all the best events in the Archdiocese if he was at all able. I liked sitting next to him during Library events very much. His countenance warmed the room, that which the picture above does not quite capture. Father was in his 93rd year, the 70th of his sacred Priesthood.

Sacerdos in aeternum, requiescat in pace.

Euge, serve bone. Priests to the front row, Father.

Local Fundraisers

If anyone is interested in holding local fundraisers to assist Juventutem Kenya pilgrims to attend World Youth Day in Sydney, please leave a comment. These could take any number of forms, and the funds then directed accordingly. Each pilgrim's return airfare works out to be about A$2550.

Please pray for Kenya. Please pray that members of Juventutem Kenya will be able to attend World Youth Day in July. This photo is courtesy of Rev Fr Charles Mwongera, who attended the World Youth Day in Germany with Juventutem during 2005. This photograph pictures some of Father's young people.

On Little Children

Today I was in the midst of an infant at prayer, with her senses engaged, and it was a beautiful thing.

Compline Tract

Please pray for those members of Juventutem who are meeting at Bern, Switzerland over this weekend. I am still looking for the article that I mentioned below, so if you do happen to find it, please let me know.

I am very happy with the revised Good Friday prayer, I think it is beautiful, and look forward to praying it in the heart of Jewish Melbourne in a few short weeks, Tenebrae preceeding - and following. Tenebrae! It is a particular grace to have the Holy Father's fingerprint in the Missal.

On Candlemas

I hope that everyone has had a blessed Candlemas. Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother - Lumen ad revelationem gentium, et gloriam plebis tuae Israel. I'm sure was felt tinges of Baptism and professions, and the next procession that will come along soon enough. Holy Lenten exercises to all.
